At The Whole Person, we are committed to fostering independence and community access for individuals with visual impairments through our Blind & Low Vision Program. This initiative is designed to provide diverse opportunities, enabling participants to engage in physical activities, artistic and cultural events, and various experiences that contribute to a richer, more empowered life.
Activities Offered:
1. “Time to Spare” – Accessible Bowling: Join us on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 12:00-1:30 pm at KC Bowl, 8201 State Ave, Kansas City, KS 66112, for an inclusive bowling experience. Open to all individuals with disabilities, The Whole Person covers the cost of your FIRST game. To secure your spot, RSVP by the Monday BEFORE each Bowling event. Alternatively, send a text to 816-848-2570.
2. Tech Talk – Peer Support Group: Tech Talk, a recurring Zoom event on the second Monday of each month from 6:30-7:30 pm, offers a platform for blind and low-vision consumers to engage in discussions led by guest speakers. Each session features a speaker sharing insights on topics of interest. To join this informative group, reach out to Meghan (mschmidt@thewholeperson.org) for the Zoom link.
3. Mind’s Eye View – Peer Support Group: Mind’s Eye View is a consumer-led Zoom event occurring on the first Monday of every month from 6:30-7:30 pm. This peer support group empowers participants to raise and discuss topics relevant to their experiences. Email Meghan (mschmidt@thewholeperson.org) to receive the Zoom link and become part of this supportive community.
Accessible Documents for All: Understanding the importance of accessibility, The Whole Person ensures that all program materials are accessible to participants with visual impairments.
