TWP is committed to expanding Kansas City’s opportunities for independent living by advocating for positive changes in our community. We lead by example: A majority of our team are people with one or more disabilities. As a result of more than 45 years of community advocacy, TWP’s efforts in tandem with local partners, have resulted in an increased number of curb ramps throughout the metropolitan area; an increased number of accessible businesses, programs, agencies, recreational facilities, and more; a greater number of persons with disabilities who are visibly present within the community; improved transportation options for people with disabilities; and improved media coverage of, and attitudes toward, people with disabilities.
